“Life begins at 100? This is an unthinkable today, but in the future, 100 can be pretty young,” Robert M. Goldman, chairman of the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine, told a conference on the resort island of Bali.

Stem cells, nanotechnology, genetic engineering and therapeutic cloning are being used in the relatively new field of anti-aging medicine.

Goldman said a calendar with pictures of actress Sophia Loren at the age of 71 wearing only a pair of earrings underlined how perceptions of age had changed.

“If somebody told you 14 years ago that they were going to have a former sex symbol pose in earrings only, you would have been disgusted or you would have closed your eyes,” he said. “Today she looks great at the age of 71.”

Stem cell therapy will allow people to regain lost hair, remove wrinkles by renewing skins, and grow new nerves for paralyzed patients, Michael Klentze, director of the Klentze Institute of Anti-aging in Munich, Germany, said.

Stem cells have the ability to act as a repair system for the body, because they can divide and differentiate, replenishing other cells as long as the host organism is alive.

“People who have hair loss they can hope in the next months they’ve got new hair, not strange hair, but their own hair,” he said.

He said a new method called proteomic diagnostics could detect prostate cancer through a urine test years before regular scans discovered it.

“We can stop the progress of a prostate cancer and we don’t need a biopsy or anything else. No operation, no nothing.”

He said people had different risk factors depending on gene mutations inherited from their ancestors and if these factors were identified and measured correctly, people could expect to live longer and healthier.

“If you measure these very exactly, then you know very early you should change your lifestyle. But it is very important not to start this when you’re 85 years, but start at 40 or 45,” he said.

Klentze disputed, however, Goldman’s concept of life beginning at 100.

“There’s a limit to how long you can live. It’s not possible and it’s not what we want. We want a normal life, 85 or whatever but healthy,” he said.

“U.S. guys are more in the life extension, they’re talking about life extension, living 150 years. For the Europeans, it’s more live a good life, vital and healthy.”

Physicians like Dr. Miller have released books with a lot of inexpensive means to greatly reduce your risks of heart disease and cancer, and for example “Life Extension Revolution” should make it easy to understand and adopt them for a longer more healthy life.

Professor Wiseman now says the winner was almost certainly written by Spike Milligan for Peter Sellers during his Goon Show days. The joke runs as follows:

Two hunters are out in the woods in New Jersey when one of them collapses. He doesn’t seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps ‘My friend is dead! What can I do?’ The operator says: ‘Calm down, I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.’ There is a silence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says ‘OK, now what?’

Richard Green, 30, of Stockton Heath, has manged to get nearly four million visits to www.pleasemakethiswork.com so far. That’s in less than a month, so it looks like he’ll get lucky by next week. Richard, who played cricket for England Under-19s, said the idea came from his girlfriend, Katie Greenwood, 21.

He said: “A few months ago I asked if she would have a threesome. She said she might be into it, but challenged me to make something out of it. “If I can get more than five million hits to my website she has agreed to let me find a girl, I even have it <a href="http://www.pleasemakethiswork.com/images/agreement.jpg target="_blank"">in writing.”

Katie confirmed: “I’ve agreed to keep my end of the bargain but I want to have a little bit of a say in who the girl will be.” Check out their website to see a video of some funny interaction, as what can best be described as a woman trying to stay socially correct. At least I doubt she wanted the whole world to know it was secretly her fantasy as well.

I’ve hosted TV shows, starred in short movies and spoke in interviews for the BBC, but this was far more nerve-wracking than all of those.

We talked about his latest release - this time not a book, but a product for us wanna-be PUAs. Something he has dubbed the “Annihilation Method”. If you’re into your seduction then you’ll have had a hard job not hearing about it, this thing has been hyped harder than a Hollywood blockbuster. I’ll hopefully be able to tell you all about it in the future, but for now I’ll have to keep the anticipation up and leave you all waiting to find out what it was about.

Oh, and he didn’t want to give anything away about his future projects anyway, which he seems to be hard at work on. Darn!

Japan’s corporate warriors aren’t getting enough sleep and it’s costing the country billions!

In the country that gave the world the word “karoshi” or death from overwork, drowsy employees turning up late, taking days off or struggling to stay awake on the job are causing economic losses of some $30 billion a year, according to a survey.

“The idea is to raise awareness of the problem,” said Makoto Uchiyama, professor and chairman of the department of neuropsychiatry at Nihon University School of Medicine, who conducted the survey.

“Not everyone who is sleepy at work is lazy. It’s hard to tell your boss that you are sleepy, but ignoring the problem can lead to losses in the long run.”

Japanese routinely work long hours, as much from cultural constraints on leaving before colleagues as from volume of work. Suited salarymen napping, often standing up, are a common sight on crowded commuter trains.

The survey questioned some 3,075 workers at a chemical company on their sleeping and working habits for a month.

Some 37 percent of respondents said they had problems sleeping. They said their efficiency at work was reduced by about 40 percent and reported a high frequency of accidents, lateness and absenteeism.

Uchiyama said other countries may be in a similar situation. “It may be thought that this is a Japanese problem. But it’s not, it’s global.” So if you read this far, have a look at our archived sleep-related newsitems, or search for nap, to help you improve your sleep pattern and as a result better your life during the day.

It’s fun to see the interactions unfold that lead to them freaking out over both women and themselves. Maybe playing Dungeons & Dragons isn’t the way to get some “board game” action? Enjoy the film:
Simple yet effective.

Tell stories to your co-workers, banter with your friends, chat with people whenever you are in a line at the store, engage the hired help anywhere you do business and make them smile (you’ll get much BETTER service as an added bonus).

The more comfortable you get using your new skills on EVERYONE you meet, the easier it’ll be when you find that one woman you know you want to meet.

If you don’t do this, you’ll be a nervous wreck when you approach her, and she’ll smell your fear a mile away. In other words, you’ll blow your chance BEFORE you get to open your mouth.

Remember this, bad first impressions are EXTREMELY difficult to overcome (it can be done, but why would you ever want to work that hard to get her attracted to you?).

So you should add to your list of goals (if you haven’t made your goals yet, do it now) put down:

‘Practice being social EVERY day’

When you do this, you’ll be amazed at how quickly the skills become a part of who you are. Once you do that, meeting women will become easy. -Lance Mason
